David De Gea and Diego Costa both feel Spain gave a good showing against France despite falling to a 1-0 defeat.
Both de Gea and Costa started against Les Bleus, the goalkeeper playing the full game and the striker getting more than an hour before he was replaced by Paco Alcacer.
Speaking to reporters after the final whistle, de Gea praised La Roja and spoke of what being picked over Iker Casillas meant to him.
“We played a good game. It’s a shame about the result,” AS reports de Gea as saying.
“Starting the match was very exciting for me.”
Costa added that he also felt the team did well and vowed to keep plugging away to turn around the bad run that started at the World Cup.
“We played well. I feel better with every game,” the Chelsea forward continued.
“The results will come with work and that’s what I’ll do.”
