Perez on Falcao & Casillas

Florentino Perez has suggested it was Carlo Ancelotti who swayed Real Madrid against signing Radamel Falcao.

Perez also declined to get involved in the situation regarding Iker Casillas after the goalkeeper was dropped by Vicente Del Bosque, the President insisting that if the same thing happened at club level it would be Ancelotti’s call.

“Falcao is a great player and we’ve considered him, now and in the past,” AS reports Perez as confirming.

“We reviewed the situation with Ancelotti and decided not to sign the player.”

Falcao had long been linked with Santiago Bernabeu but instead joined Manchester United on a season-long loan from Monaco.

On Casillas, Perez reflected on last year when Diego Lopez was largely first choice, but who has since been sold to Milan.

“The team is the Coach’s job and we have three good goalkeepers,” he argued.

“One left when we got a good offer for his services. I don’t decide who plays. That’s Ancelotti’s job.”
