Karim Benzema has spoken of his frustration after having a goal disallowed during France’s win over Spain.
The Real Madrid forward appeared to have put Les Bleus in front only for an assistant referee’s flag to rule out the strike.
But replays confirmed Benzema was behind the ball at the time Moussa Sissoko played the pass, meaning the goal should have stood.
France eventually won the game 1-0 through Loic Remy and while Benzema was pleased with the victory, he was disappointed his goal didn’t deliver the win.
“I haven’t seen the replay, I don’t know if I’m offside, but I’m beginning to get tired of having goals disallowed,” AS reports Benzema as saying.
“The important thing is we won. I had so much fun tonight.
“We needed to look good and I think we did, although we’ve had some difficult times where they controlled the ball a lot.
“But I think we surprised them and did well on the counter-attack.
“The game is a good way to continue the World Cup. I think we have formed a group and what we do in training we’re able to bring to games.”
