Andres Iniesta is not joining up with the Spain squad after suffering a knee injury and Vicente Del Bosque has declined to name a replacement.
Marca confirms Iniesta is to stay in Barcelona due to the problem and will miss Thursday’s friendly with France and Monday’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Macedonia.
Iniesta had travelled to Madrid underwent tests with the Spain medical staff and it was decided he was better off missing this round of international fixtures.
Despite the loss of the experienced midfielder, Del Bosque has chosen not to call up a substitute.
