Atletico Madrid are close to the signing of Malaga captain Jesus Gamez, according to reports in Spain.
AS cite claims from Diario Sur that say Gamez will sign a three-year contract with the champions and compete for the right-back spot with Juanfran and Cristian Ansaldi, the latter joining this summer on loan from Zenit St. Petersburg.
The 29-year-old Gamez has spent his entire career with Malaga, breaking into the first team in 2003, and it’s not known yet how much Atletico are paying for his services.
He is currently in Turin as Malaga continue their pre-season preparations but is expected to travel to Madrid either tonight or tomorrow to undergo a medical and complete the formalities of his move.
