Gracia welcomes Schalke Cup

New Malga boss Javi Gracia believes that the club’s friendlies against Newcastle and West Ham this weekend will help them for the upcoming season.

The Costa del Sol outfit travel to Germany today to take on the Premier League pair in the inaugural Schalke Cup.

And the Coach has claimed that these matches will be of help when their first League game against Athletic Bilbao rolls around.

“The entire season is going to be demanding” he told a Press conference.

“The start of the League competition needs to be exciting. Regardless of whether we’d been drawn against Athletic or any other team, we’ll do our best to ensure the three points stay at home.

“Taking part in different matches and friendlies should help us as we come across similar situations during the League season.”

Gracia then commented on their signing of Mexico international Guillermo Ochoa.

“The arrival of an international player, who has played brilliantly in the recent World Cup, would be important to the team.”
