Atleti expect Miranda to stay

Atletico Madrid are hopeful Miranda will remain at Vicente Calderon despite interest from Manchester United and Barcelona.

Marca reports that Miranda wants to leave the champions but without an offer that matches Atleti’s valuation, they won’t consent to the centre-back’s exit.

Atleti want the €30m called for in Miranda’s contract but neither Barca nor United have come close to triggering the clause.

Miranda is then due back at Atletico tomorrow for the start of pre-season, as is Diego Godin, his centre-back partner who has committed his future to the club.

Atleti have taken the same stance with Miranda as they did with Juanfran, Koke and Gabi – that the only way they could leave is if the contract clause is met. All three are still at the club.

Diego Costa has left after Chelsea met his clause and Filipe Luis could still follow, but the pair are expected to be the only regulars from last year to be sold.
