Vicente Del Bosque has said he doesn’t know if Iker Casillas and Xavi Hernandez will continue with the Spain team after the World Cup.
Speaking to the Press prior to Spain’s final World Cup game, against Australia tomorrow, Del Bosque was asked about his reaction to criticism from the Press, as well as his future on the bench.
He was also pushed for information pertaining to Casillas and Xavi, and talk of a row with Cesc Fabregas in which he is alleged to have taken the training vest from the Chelsea man in response to a poor show in training.
“I didn’t take away the vest,” Del Bosque replied. “It was a minor issue.
“[One team] was outnumbered and the team was still behind. I sought support from Xabi Alonso. Nothing happened.
“I’m grateful to all the players. I think of them. They only think of themselves.”
On the futures of the two most experienced men in the squad, Del Bosque was more circumspect.
“I’ll tell you in the season [regarding Casillas]. It’s something else. It’s a time of revolution and we must analyse what everyone is doing with their club and from that sense we will check on everyone,” the Coach continued.
“No player has told me they will not come over if called. If any decision is made, we will respect it.
“We don’t know if [Xavi] will stay or won’t stay. I honestly don’t know.
“Nobody has told me directly that these are their last few games.”
