Torres: No positives from WC

Fernando Torres has said that no matter how hard he tries, he can’t find any positives from Spain’s World Cup.

Torres was a second half substitute as the holders went down to a 2-0 defeat on Wednesday against Chile, confirming Spain’s early exit from the tournament.

Mundo Deportivo reports the Chelsea striker as revealing his thoughts and emotions in the aftermath of elimination.

“Sad, mostly. I’m trying to find the positive side but I can’t find it,” he said.

“I look back on what we’ve done in these past years but that’s not enough. I believe we had more football to play and players who could do more since we only played two games. There’s disappointment and sadness.

“This is no time to analyse. It’s better to let time pass and important decisions and analysis need to be done slowly.

“All the credit in the world should be given to Chile, who played a great game, better than we did.

“We played against two teams that were better than us. And this is the World Cup. Here you can have a second chance, but not a third.”
