Pedro wants strong WC finish

Pedro has called on Spain to end the World Cup in the right way after defeat to Chile condemned the holders to a group stage exit.

The South Americans’ 2-0 victory saw Vicente Del Bosque’s side fall at the first hurdle and, according to Mundo Deportivo, Pedro was suitably disappointed.

“It’s not been good. We’re not very happy with the World Cup because we go after two games,” the Barcelona winger said.

“It’s a shame we couldn’t get the win. We’ve played two very strong teams and Chile went in front, and that cost us.

“We had the hope and the desire to move forward, to stay in this World Cup, because it’s hard to get here.

“We wanted to win, to do it right, overturn the first game but it wasn’t to be.

“Now we try to end in the best possible way [against Australia], for pride, for the fans who are coming here and those who are here.”
