Roja ratings: Spain 0-2 Chile

La Roja's 2-0 loss to Chile means that, mathematically, they are unable to qualify from their group. Cronan Yu runs through the ratings.

Iker Casillas: 4

The captain was nervy throughout the whole match, perhaps the result of the previous Netherlands match. Although unable to prevent the first goal, he gifted the second with a punch right into the danger area after an Alexis Sanchez free kick.

Jordi Alba: 4

Tried to get forward as much as possible in attack to hit those first time crosses, but didn't display enough quality to do so. Aranguiz's goal could've been avoidable had he had done more to percent Vidal from passing.

Sergio Ramos: 5

Was poor in defence yet again as he failed to strike up a sustainable partnership with Javi Martinez. Also lacked discipline and at one stage, looked like losing his head.

Javi Martinez: 4

Enjoyed a decent start to the game whereby he exhibited his midfielder qualities by attempting to play out from the back and initiate attacks. After the first goal, however, he went into his shell, failed to communicate with his partner and was slow and sluggish.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 4

Passing wasn't great in the first half, however attempted to get himself into decent positions and tried to utilise the space on the flanks.

Sergio Busquets: 3

Missed a sitter at the back post which would've given Spain a chance. Should've done more to prevent more to close down Sanchez in the opening goal.

Xabi Alonso: 3

Passing was poor and often have the ball away cheaply in dangerous positions, one of which led to the opening goal. Defensively poor as well and lacked discipline. Subbed off at half time.

Andres Iniesta: 6

As was the case in the Netherlands match, he was the only player who tried to make things happen in the centre of the park. Showed some decent touches in tight areas but most of the time, his teammates were seemingly on a different wavelength.

David Silva: 4

Began the match in the number 10 role but quickly became ineffective and wasn'twasn't allowed the time nor the space to play in passes. Was anonymous after Chile netted their first.

Diego Costa: 3

Yet again failed to deliver on the big occasion and was on a totally different wavelength than the rest of the team. Went on dribbles which eventuated into nothing, had a half chance which where his shot went into the side netting.

Pedro: 4

Made decent runs and found himself in great offensive positions. Was let down though by poor first touches and dribbles into dead ends on the right flank

Substitutes:

Koke: 4

Replaced Xabi Alonso at half time and enjoyed a bright start to the second half. His form curtailed though after a poor diagonal pass made him lose confidence.

Santi Cazorla: 5

Tried to find the back of the net and tested Claudio Bravo from range on several occasions.

Vicente Del Bosque: 4

Promised changes leading up to the match, but not the ones everybody envisioned where he maintained a similar line up to the one against the Netherlands. Didn't fix the mistakes and failed to regenerate the side, factors that ultimately cost him his second World Cup.
