New Valencia owner Peter Lim is said to be determined to sign Porto striker Jackson Martinez.
Super Deporte claim a meeting was recently held in Singapore with Lim, Amadeo Salvo, Rufete, Jorge Mendes and a handful of others when it was decided the Colombia international would be the club’s main target.
Coach Juan Antonio Pizzi was not among them and Lim could replace the Argentine with Nuno, the former Deportivo La Coruna and Osasuna goalkeeper now in charge at Rio Ave.
Valencia and Lim are said to understand signing Martinez would not be easy as Porto don’t want to sell, and couldn’t happen until Lim is officially the owner of Los Che, which as yet he is not.
The money promised by Lim may not arrive until late July and while Valencia are planning their moves under Lim’s ownership, they can’t do business yet.
Martinez has said he won’t decide his future until after the World Cup, by which point Pizzi’s future should be known.
