Karim Benzema is looking to become Real Madrid’s joint-second-highest paid player when the club seeks to renew his contract.
AS reports that the striker’s deal expires in 2015 and he wants to go from €4.5m per year to €9m, the same as Gareth Bale and behind only Cristiano Ronaldo.
The sides are negotiating, with Paris Saint-Germain ready to exploit any impasse. The French club have already had two approaches rejected, according to the report.
It isn’t certain if Madrid and Benzema will reach an agreement any time soon but Coach Carlo Ancelotti is known to want the striker to remain at the club, feeling he is the perfect complement to Cristiano Ronaldo.
