Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has lauded the winning mentality in the Spain squad prior to the start of the World Cup.
La Roja begin the defence of their trophy against the Netherlands on Friday and Koke spoke at a Press conference to preview the match.
AS reports the Atleti man as praising the mindset of his colleagues for their desire to win in the right way.
“Spain always have a winning mentality. The philosophy remains the same, to go out and play with the style that has characterised us for years,” Koke said.
“That is the basis for the squad winning.
“[The pitch] is ok, very short and quick. It’s true we have to adapt to what we find but the ball is running and for us that is very important.”
Koke also touched on a number of his teammates, as well as his future at club level.
“Every day I learn more and [Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta] have many things to teach,” he continued.
“I watch them and the speed in which they think and see the play before it happens. They make the best of everything. They’re mentally good and play football with ease.
“I think we saw Diego Costa is ready in the El Salvador game, where he met expectations.
“He did well and in sprints in training is doing the same. I see him at 100%. If he wasn’t he’d tell the Coach.
“Right now I see myself playing at the World Cup and that’s what matters to me.
“I have a contract with Atletico. I’m very happy.
“If Juanfran says he sees me as a captain at Vicente Calderon, then you never know in life.”
