Spain’s opening match of the 2014 World Cup in Brazil will be refereed by Nicola Rizzoli.
Vicente Del Bosque’s defending champions kick-off their campaign against Holland this Friday and it has now been confirmed the Italian official will take charge of the fixture.
The 43-year-old has been a Serie A whistle-blower since 2002 and an international referee since 2007.
Recently, he presided over the second leg of the Champions League semi-final between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge.
