Costa happy with reception

Diego Costa says he is pleased with the reception he has received in Brazil, despite his decision to play for Spain.

The 25-year-old forward was eligible for both nations but in the end opted for La Roja and Vicente Del Bosque’s world champions.

Speaking to reporters today, the soon-to-be Chelsea man also claimed he would be ready for Spain’s first World Cup match, against Holland on Friday.

“Things are going well for me,” Costa said. “People have treated me well and in the manner I hoped. I have the support of most people who understand what has gone on.

“My parents are very happy that I am here, close to them. They support my decision.

“I needed the match with El Salvador. Now I am fine and I will have no problems for the first match.”
