‘Del Bosque’s a good man’

Bolivia Coach Xabier Azkargorta has praised his Spain counterpart Vicente Del Bosque after last night’s friendly between the countries.

Spain won 2-0 at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan as their World Cup preparations began in earnest, a Fernando Torres penalty and an Andres Iniesta curler sealing the win.

Speaking to reporters after the match, former Athletic Bilbao forward Azkagorta admitted he was impressed by La Roja, even if he doubted the award of the penalty.

“They were patient to move the ball around and not lose patience and wait for their chance,” AS reports Azkagorta as saying.

“I dare not speak about the penalty, but it didn’t look like one.

“I was far away but despite that Spain haven’t lost their personality in moving the ball.

“Seeing the circumstances of the little training we’ve had, the trip, I felt comfortable with the performance of my team.

“Spain has a spectacular quality of players.”

Azkagorta added that he has the utmost respect for Del Bosque and considers the Coach a friend.

“We have a great relationship,” he continued.

“I think Vicente is a good man who has dedicated himself to football. I’m proud to have his friendship.”
