Casillas ‘considering Madrid exit’

Mundo Deportivo has claimed Iker Casillas is giving serious thought to leaving Real Madrid this summer.

The goalkeeper is said to be unwilling to go into next season with the same job-share policy as the campaign just ended, that saw Diego Lopez take the gloves for the League and Casillas play in the Cup and Champions League.

With Lopez happy to remain at Santiago Bernabeu, Casillas is mulling over his next step. It’s said he would prefer to remain at Madrid for the rest of his career, but wants to play more regularly.

Mundo Deportivo quote Florentino Perez on the topic of Casillas, after the President said recently that it’s not impossible to imagine Casillas moving on.

“Iker is the heritage of Real Madrid. I’m not saying he can’t go, but it’s not easy,” Perez admitted.

Perez also gave his backing to the rotation between the goalkeepers, claiming it had helped Madrid last season.

Casillas is thought to be calm over his prospects of finding a new club, particularly if he impresses in the World Cup.
