Del Bosque ‘keeping an eye’ on Costa

Vicente Del Bosque is hopeful that Diego Costa will recover in time for the World Cup.

The Atletico Madrid striker has a hamstring tear, and was told on Monday afternoon that he needed ’15 days rest’.

The Spanish national team Coach though, is confident that the goalscorer will be back in time for Brazil.

But admits that should the Colchoneros man miss out, La Roja do have options.

“Diego has got a muscular injury,” he told Cadena SER.

“We’re monitoring him closely and keeping an eye on how it evolves – we will wait until the last minute before making our decision.

“We’re not doing this on a whim – we have until June 2 to submit the list of 23 players and so we have no reason to be hasty.

“I really hope he makes it, but if he doesn’t we have other options.

“We’re going into the finals with caution and prudence but with a great ambition to win it again.”
