Marquinhos flattered by Barca interest

Paris Saint-Germain defender Marquinhos has welcomed reports of interest from Barcelona.

The Brazilian told French publication Le Parisien that while he couldn’t speak to suggestions he would be heading for Camp Nou, he confirmed he was thinking about his future.

“If Barca is interested in me then it’s something that satisfies me,” Sport reports the centre-back as saying.

“It’s flattering because Barca is a club that has won all the competitions in the world.

“Other than that, I can’t say any more about Barca.”

But Marquinhos did touch on his future. After commending PSG’s signing of David Luiz, he revealed he was speaking to his agent about his long-term interests after spending a year as back-up to compatriots Alex and Thiago Silva.

“I think David Luiz has chosen will with PSG. When you see players like him arrive you realise you’ll have it hard,” Marquinhos added.

“I know, but I’ll work even more.

“I have a contract until 2018. Now you will see. I don’t know…my agent will talk to the club about my future because this coming season is very important to me.”
