Osasuna fans injured in celebration

Several Osasuna fans were injured during their team’s La Liga match against Real Betis this afternoon.

With the Pamplona side needing victory to give themselves any hope of survival in the Primera Liga, they got off to the perfect start when Oriol Riera gave them the lead after 12 minutes.

The goal triggered jubilation in the stands, but amidst the celebrations part of a railing collapsed, causing fans in that section to tumble over it and onto the pitch.

The match was delayed for 35 minutes while the fans were attended to by medics, with several having to be stretchered away.

However, it was later confirmed that no one had been seriously injured by the incident.

The match at Sadar Stadium ended in a 2-1 victory for the hosts, but it was not enough to prevent relegation after other results conspired against them.
