Caballero: Mission accomplished

Malaga goalkeeper Willy Caballero has described his side’s La Liga season as acceptable after they secured safety on Sunday.

Los Boquerones played out a 1-1 draw against Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon to confirm survival, with the Argentine himself gaining the headlines for a miraculous injury time save that prevented the home side securing the title.

“It has been an inconsistent season,” Caballero is quoted as saying by Mundo Deportivo. “There are things we need to eradicate and correct, because we have a lot of targets.

“But it has been acceptable, because we achieved the objective of staying in the Primera Division.

“Hopefully in the last match, against Levante, we will finish the season well.”

His teammate, Ignacio Camacho, also commented on Malaga’s season.

“I am very pleased with the unity in the dressing room and with the fans. We thank them because Sunday after Sunday they come and fill the stadium.”
