Diego Ribas set for Atleti exit – report

Diego Ribas is unlikely to remain at Atletico Madrid past the end of the season, reports in Spain have claimed.

The Brazilian returned to Atleti in January, on a six-month loan deal from Wolfsburg. Mundo Deportivo says the intention of both Diego and Atletico was for the agreement to go past the end of the season but that is now unlikely for a number of reasons.

Diego is said to be a little unhappy with his role under Diego Simeone, while Atletico don’t feel they could match the player’s economic demands.

Instead, Diego has been heavily linked with a move to Besiktas, although Arsenal are said to be in the frame as well.

It was suggested that Diego could return to Brazil with Santos but the 29-year-old wants to remain in European football a little longer.

His contract with Wolfsburg expires this summer.
