Celades new La Rojita boss

Former Barcelona, Real Madrid and Spain midfielder Albert Celades has been appointed as the new Coach of Spain’s Under-21s.

Celades had been working within the national team’s youth set-up and replaces Julen Lopetgui, who has been appointed the new Coach of Porto, AS reports.

The 38-year-old Celades began his playing career at Barca before moving on to Celta Vigo and later joining Madrid.

Celades spent five years at Santiago Bernabeu, had a season on loan at Bordeaux, and later played for Real Zaragoza and New York Red Bulls before hanging up his boots.

He won four caps for La Roja and made two appearances at the 1998 World Cup.
