Stephane Mbia has said scoring a last-minute winner to send Sevilla through to the Europa League final was the happiest moment of his life.
Mbia’s goal meant Los Rojiblancos progressed to meet Benfica in the final in Turin despite Valencia winning 3-1 on the night, the Cameroonian’s late contribution putting Sevilla through on away goals with the score level at 3-3 on aggregate.
Valencia had come back from a 2-0 defeat in the first-leg and a tearful Mbia described the experience as ‘incredible’ when speaking to reporters after the match.
“It’s the best day of my life,” AS reports Mbia as saying.
“I feel very happy, because the tie had become very difficult and it was hard to play here.
“We are very happy. The goal has been incredible.
“The goal is for my family, for my father and my mother.
“I’m excited. It is the happiest moment of my life. It was important to go to Turin after working so hard.”
