Koke looking forward to all-Madrid final

Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke has said he is pleased to see Real Madrid in the Champions League final and hopes the feeling is mutual.

Koke was part of the Atletico team that beat Chelsea 3-1 on Wednesday night to seal their place in the showpiece, to be played in Lisbon on May 24.

Real Madrid had booked their spot in the match a day earlier, knocking out defending champions Bayern Munich with a 5-0 aggregate win.

Marca reports that after the match, Koke said the final was something for the whole city to celebrate.

“It’s a Madrid final. I’m happy for Madrid and I hope they’re happy for us. It will be very nice,” he said.

The game this month will be the first time the European Cup will be contested between two teams from the same city.

Koke added that it was very important Atletico levelled the scores before half-time after Fernando Torres put Chelsea in front but Adrian restored parity.

“We could start the second-half calmly because we knew they’d come at us. We controlled the game in the second-half,” he said.

“We have been fortunate with the penalty they conceded on Diego Costa but we earned it.”
