‘Pep & Aragones the best’

Xavi has admitted that Pep Guardiola and Luis Aragones have been the two best Coaches in his career.

The midfielder won every club honour available under Guardiola’s tutorship at Barcelona and lifted the Euro 2008 trophy as Aragones led Spain to their first title in nearly 50 years.

And the veteran has conceded that those two have been most instrumental in his time as a footballer.

“Pep will always be an important person in my life,” he told So Foot Magazine

“He was when I was a kid and he was when he managed me.

“I have enjoyed working with all the managers that I have had, but if I had to keep just two, they would be Aragonés and Pep.

“They have been very important to me.”

The 34-year-old then commented on rumours that he will leave Camp Nou in the summer for pastures new.

“I feel physically in good shape. I’ve felt ever better than in the last two seasons.

“I have realised that I have to dose myself a little in games, but in all honesty this is the first time in my career that I have felt so good. I'm more mature, better physically.

“What I know is that I like football and have the intention to stay in this world.”
