Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo believes his side can claim a trophy this season.
Cerezo was speaking from Mexico, where he attended a film awards event, and told the local Press that under Diego Simeone, anything is possible.
“[The Champions League quarter finals] is a great stage to be at,” Marca reports Cerezo as saying.
“This year has been the culmination of everything, putting together a great team, finding a good Coach.
“I think you have to put together a number of important circumstances to make this great Atletico team.
“We hope to win something. We have the passion and the ability to do it and I think we will do it.”
As Cerezo was in Mexico he was asked by the local Press if Atletico would ever sign Carlos Vela, Real Sociedad’s Mexican forward. Cerezo was diplomatic in his reply.
“There’s nothing in that possibility,” he said.
“Vela is a great player and in a great team but when the season ends we’ll see what we need, how we need it and when we need it,” Cerezo added.
