Arbeloa hopes for CL final return

Alvaro Arbeloa has claimed that he hopes to be back in time for the Champions League final after suffering a knee injury.

The Real Madrid defender is expected to be out for eight weeks, with some suggesting that his World Cup ambitions could be at risk because of the knock.

However, the full-back has insisted that he is optimistic about being back for the end of May.

“I'm going to keep smiling, despite everything, you've got to be optimistic,” he told reporters.

“All I'm thinking about is working hard to recover as quickly as possible and getting back to playing.

“The main priority now is to recover 100 per cent. I want to be back in early May and be available to help out during the final stretch of the season.

“Hopefully I'll get to play in a possible Champions League final with Madrid and be okay to play in the World Cup with the national team, if that's what the Coach decides.

“It would be special because of what it means to play a World Cup in Brazil, but we'll see what happens.”
