Antic critiques Barca and praises Atleti

Former Barcelona Coach Radomir Antic has said off-field issues are behind La Blaugrana’s poor recent performances.

Antic added that he has been more impressed by another of his old clubs, Atletico Madrid, who reached the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday.

The Serbian has extensive Coaching experience in Spain, taking charge of Real Zaragoza, Real Madrid, Real Oviedo twice, Atletico three times, Barcelona and Celta Vigo.

Antic said in an interview with EFE and reported by Marca that Barca are paying the price for the off-field distractions.

“In football, if you don’t talk about games during the week, then you have problems,” Antic said.

“I didn’t see Lionel Messi shoot with the power we’re accustomed against Real Valladolid. Why? I’ll leave that up in the air.”

Antic has however a different impression of Atletico under Diego Simeone.

“Both on the field and off Atletico have reached a partnership with the people and that has moved Atleti back to a high level,” Antic continued.

“Especially at a time like this, when it isn’t easy to succeed with the economic problems, Atletico have found success through stability and continue to rise.”
