Pedro: Goal was lucky

Pedro has said his winning goal for Spain against Italy was lucky in the way the ball fell for him.

The Barcelona winger netted just after the hour mark as La Roja beat the Azzurri 1-0 at Atletico Madrid’s Vicente Calderon.

An Andres Iniesta burst from the Spain half and an interchange with David Silva created the chance, with Silva’s blocked shot falling kindly for Pedro, who beat Gianluigi Buffon with a powerful effort.

“I’ve been lucky,” Pedro told Tele 5 after the match.

“There was a move and the ball rebounded to me in the area.

“The most important thing though is the team and we’re happy with the win.

“The victory helps us gain confidence.

“We played very well against Italy, who are a great team. We’re happy.”

Pedro added that it was the support of Vicente Del Bosque that has made him feel secure around the national team.

“I feel good. I’m comfortable in the team, which is thanks to the Coach.

“I’m thankful for his confidence and I’m happy with the goal.”
