Spain forward Alvaro Negredo says outgoing Barcelona defender Carles Puyol ranks as one of the best centre-backs in football history.
The Manchester City striker was speaking to Sportyou as La Roja prepare to face Italy on Wednesday.
“He has been one of the best defenders for the national team, for Barcelona and for football in general,” Negredo said.
“He has given absolutely everything he could have.
“He was maybe not a 10 out of 10 technically but in other ways he is a 20.
“I want to thank him for everything and for everything he has done for football.
“He has achieved everything and he leaves as the best.”
