Pizzi: Valencia still growing

Valencia Coach Juan Antonio Pizzi has said that while he wants Los Che to go far in the Europa League, it’ll be difficult to win the whole thing.

Pizzi’s Valencia host Dynamo Kiev at Mestalla on Thursday evening in their second leg meeting, with the home side holding a 2-0 advantage from the first encounter.

The initial game was moved from Kiev due to the political protests and violence in Ukraine, with Valencia winning in Cyprus instead.

Speaking at a Press conference on Wednesday, Pizzi outlined his thoughts on the tournament.

“Our ambition is to have the greatest success in any competition we’re in,” he told reporters.

“We must overcome this eliminator and see if we are able to get a title.

“But it is difficult for a team that changes Coach mid-season to be champion.”

The Coach went on to say that Valencia are still a work in progress.

“Our achievements are part of a process of growth and strength.

“Though we hope and believe that we have the resources to compete with virtually all teams, we must be aware of the situation we’re living in.”

Pizzi added that despite the two away goals scored in the first match, Dynamo should not be dismissed.

“We can’t assume the tie is over.

“It wouldn’t be the first time a game is lost from here. I don’t want my players believing things that haven’t yet been achieved.”
