Del Bosque: Not an easy group

Spain Coach Vicente Del Bosque has warned against assuming La Roja have been handed an easy group in qualification for Euro 2016.

The defending European champions will play Ukraine, Slovakia, Belarus, FYR Macedonia and Luxembourg and Del Bosque told reporters after the draw that the conditions could work against his side.

“It’s not an easy group. The cold could be an important factor,” Del Bosque said.

“We’ll have to look at the dates of the games, but being all Eastern European countries [apart from Luxembourg], it could influence things. That will be the same for all the teams though.

“It’s going to be a new season and we’ll have to take the games one step at a time,” Del Bosque continued.

“Many are emerging countries, very young in three cases and we can’t be over-confident.”

Naming Ukraine as Spain’s most dangerous opponent, Del Bosque added that he was now focused on the summer’s engagement.

“We first have the challenge of the World Cup,” Del Bosque said.

“Hopefully we’ll live up to defending our title and then later, do the same in the European Championship.”
