Diego Godin believes Atletico Madrid have put their poor form behind them after beating Real Valladolid.

Los Colchoneros won 3-0 against the relegation strugglers, scoring twice in the game’s first four minutes.

Raul Garcia opened the scoring and Diego Costa added a second a minute later, with Godin rounding off the victory in the 74th minute.

Atletico had lost their last three games, including both legs of the Copa del Rey semi-finals to Atletico Madrid, while a League defeat against Almeria saw Atleti slip from top spot.

Godin however told reporters after the final whistle that Atletico had stopped the rot.

“It ended here. We’ve got our spirit back and we’re back on track,” the defender said.

“When we lose we have to work harder to get back to good results.

“We’ve got a good feeling again. You can see how enthusiastic this team are to keep winning.

“There were good moments at the start of the game and I was able to finish it off with a goal.”

Godin added that the Atletico players were stung by their run of defeats but were now eager to build on Saturday’s victory, starting in the Champions League against Milan.

“Losing always hurts. I was hurt and so were my teammates,” Godin said.

“But you have to keep working hard and move on.

“Now we’ve got a good game against Milan but we know it’ll be difficult.

“We’ll go into it wanting to play our way, with enthusiasm, until the end.”
