Diego Ifran has questioned the integrity of Spain’s referees after Real Sociedad were eliminated from the Copa del Rey.
La Real went out 3-1 on aggregate against Barcelona after drawing 1-1 on Wednesday night at Anoeta, with the 2-0 first-leg defeat at Camp Nou coming in particularly controversial circumstances.
Jagoba Arrasate felt his side should have been given a penalty for a Javier Mascherano foul on Carlos Vela, while Inigo Martinez was sent off. The defender was shown a straight red card for protesting the decision not to award a spot kick.
Ifran took to Twitter to voice his discontent, posting a message in which he suggested referees in Spain favour the bigger clubs.
