Senderos delighted with Valencia debut

Philippe Senderos was delighted with his Valencia debut as Los Che beat Real Betis 5-0.

The Swiss international moved to the Mestalla from Fulham on transfer deadline day and lined up for the first time on Saturday.

Two goals from Paco Alcacer and one each for Jeremy Mathieu, Sofiane Feghouli and Eduardo Vargas gave Juan Antonio Pizzi’s side a commanding victory.

And despite having to be replaced in the second half due to cramp, Senderos said it was a debut to remember.

“It was a great moment in my career with my family there watching the game,” Marca reports the former Arsenal defender as saying.

“It’s a great moment that will stay in my heart a long time.

“The important thing for a defender is always to not concede goals. It was a very good debut for me, 5-0 in front of our fans, and that’s the most important part.

“I’m sorry I couldn’t finish the game. I’ve got to get used to the pace of the game but it was nothing serious and I can train with the team and be ready to compete again.”
