Luka Modric has called on his Real Madrid teammates to match the Copa del Rey first-leg win over Atletico Madrid next week.
The return takes place on Tuesday and Madrid will go into the game at the Vicente Calderon with a 3-0 lead after goals from Pepe, Jese and Angel Di Maria.
“Atletico is a very strong team but we played well,” Modric told reporters.
“When we go there we will play as usual.
“We have to play like tonight because in football you never know.
“If we play like today we are favourites to reach the Cup final.”
On a personal note, Modric revealed that he is very happy with his form.
“I feel very good, like I’m playing better every game and improving all the time.”
Modric was also asked about his former Tottenham Hotspur teammate Gareth Bale, who sat out the match.
“He’s ok. He trained the last two days. He needs time but he can help us a lot in matches to come.
“He’s a great player and while he’s not at his best yet, he is getting very close to his best form.
“It is noticeable [that he didn’t have a pre-season], especially for Bale, because he’s very physical.
“But he’s happy. It’s normal when you have injuries to be worried but he has the support of the whole team and I’m certain he’ll play like he did at Tottenham.”
