Rakitic ‘has to do what’s best’

Sevilla captain Ivan Rakitic has to decide what’s best for his future, his national team Coach has said.

Rakitic has been linked with a move away from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and the Croatia boss, Niko Kovac, believes Rakitic is good enough to play for any club in the world.

“Ivan can play anywhere,” Kovac told AS.

“I don’t know what he will decide for his future but the truth is he has the ability to play for any club, whichever he wants.

“He has grown at Sevilla.

“But he has to choose what is best for him, his family and his career.”

Rakitic is sure to be part of Kovac’s team at the summer’s World Cup and Kovac feels the midfielder’s time in Seville has had a massive impact on him as a player.

“I'm happy to see that Ivan has matured as a player and as a person in Seville, where is the undisputed leader of the team.

“He took a big step forward when he went to Seville, a great club with a great and important story.

“I’m always checking that he’s getting assists and scoring goals. He’s important for our team.

“I hope he continues like this, not only for Sevilla but for Croatia.”
