Bartra: Be professional

Marc Bartra has said the only thing the Barcelona players can do during this time of boardroom unrest is continue being professional.

Josep Maria Bartomeu replaced Sandro Rosell as President after Rosell resigned in relation to allegations regarding the Neymar transfer.

Bartra, speaking to reporters after Barcelona beat Levante 5-1 to progress to the Copa del Rey semi-finals, insisted the players cannot let anything off the pitch affect them.

“The best we can do is to stay focused on football,” Bartra said.

“We need to remain good professionals, train hard and stay that way.”

Asked if he had a preference for Barca’s semi-final opponents, Real Sociedad or Racing Santander, Bartra said he did not.

“It will be a difficult game but we will do our best to get through it.

“Maybe the two will wear each other out a little more but they are two very good teams.”

Bartra added that he approached the game with Levante in the manner he approaches every fixture, despite Barca holding a 4-1 lead from the first-leg.

“I came with the same enthusiasm I always do when I play for this club at Camp Nou,” he said.

“We created chances and goals,” Bartra continued.

“You have to thank the fans because they gave us encouragement. It was not a nice day for football.”
