Diego Simeone was delighted with the effort his players put in as they beat Rayo Vallecano 4-2 on Sunday.

The Vicente Calderon outfit beat their capital rivals in an open, attacking game across the city, and the Argentine Coach was pleased with his team’s endeavour.

“It's a difficult game to comment on the movements that occurred on the field,” he told a Press conference.

“There was too much between the lines and an attacking game for both teams. We got a very positive result because from the beginning there were complications with the injury to Tiago before, then the penalty, with the other injury to Oliver. But this team is full of men.

“We will now hope to have a good match in Bilbao and work the following week because every game is important.

“The team is working extremely well. We have 54 points, an amazing thing. It is very good for the team," he said.

About Óliver and Tiago’s injuries he commented: “Oliver has a dislocation. He's young and strong, and is recovering well. Tiago suffered a minor annoyance and did not want to risk it. On Wednesday he'll be fine."

Koke played his 100th League matches with the Rojiblancos, and the tactician moved to praise the midfielder: “The best thing about Koke is that he has a huge future. He gives solutions in various facets of the field.

“He is an example for the kids who come from the academy. We were glad to have this record so young.”
