Mathieu fit for Valencia

Jeremy Mathieu has returned to training for Valencia and will be fit to play Espanyol on Saturday.

The France international had missed training this week with a knee problem and it was originally feared he could be out for a month, Marca reports.

But Mathieu’s recovery has been far quicker than expected, to the point Coach Juan Antonio Pizzi can pick the former Toulouse player this weekend.

Mathieu has suffered no reaction to training in the middle of the week and worked out with his teammates as normal.

It is not all good news on the injury front for Pizzi, however, as Helder Postiga is struggling with a back complaint.

The striker has not been able to play a full part in training this week, restricted to gym work, and may not be considered for the match at the Mestalla this weekend.
