Calderon named new Betis boss

Real Betis have confirmed that Gabriel Calderon is their new Coach after Sunday’s sacking of Juan Carlos Garrido.

Despite only being in charge for five games, the Verdiblancos relieved Garrido of his duties over the weekend following the 5-0 defeat at home to Real Madrid.

And the Benito Villamarin outfit have revealed that the 53-year-old Argentine tactician is his replacement.

Speaking to reporters, the former Betis midfielder said: “This has always been my dream. When a delicate situation like this arises, everyone has to come together.

“When a loved one is sick, you have to pull together. I come here with hope, and the belief that we can do well.”

Calderon played with the Seville outfit between 1983 and 1987, making 74 League appearances for the club.

His managerial career has seen him coach in France, Switzerland and the Middle East.
