Malaga confident over Thievy

Malaga are increasingly sure of landing Thievy Bifouma from Espanyol even though the Catalans prefer to sell outside La Liga.

Rennes have had an offer accepted for the forward but Thievy prefers to remain in Spain, particularly as his partner is pregnant and he is unwilling to uproot his family.

But Espanyol favour the offer from France for two reasons – first, Rennes have put more money on the table than Malaga and secondly, they do not want to improve the squad of a domestic rival.

Thievy has returned to training with Espanyol but will not be considered for selection, Marca reports.

It has been suggested that in an attempt to convince Espanyol to sell to Malaga, the south coast side could offer midfielder Anderson in part-exchange.

Malaga nevertheless believe that the player’s wishes will eventually dictate his next move and Thievy is understood to value his family situation higher than anything.
