Gracia: An important step for Osasuna

Osasuna boss Javi Gracia said the 1-0 victory over Espanyol at El Sadar was an important step for the Pamplona club.

Alvaro Cejudo scored the only goal of the game after 33 minutes to lift Osasuna out of the relegation zone and Gracia conceded it had been a vital win.

“Every step is important because of the three points obtained and we knew this was a game that wouldn’t be easy,” he told a post-match Press conference.

“In my opinion we played well against an opponent that forces you to do so. It was very tight and we got some good fortune with the error [for Osasuna’s goal] but we defended calmly after that, knowing victory at home was essential.”

Espanyol believed they should have been awarded a penalty on 93 minutes when Oier handled in the penalty area.

“I didn’t see it but it appears the ball hit his hand. However, there was a previous foul on Oier in the same move,” insisted Gracia.
