Koke ‘delighted’ to have avoided booking

Koke admitted he is ‘delighted’ to have avoid a fifth booking on Saturday, which means he can play against Barcelona next weekend.

The Atletico Madrid man netted the only goal of the game as the capital club beat Malaga 1-0 yesterday.

And the youngster has conceded that he was thrilled not to pick up a yellow card so that he can take to the field in the next League match against the Blaugrana.

“It was very important to take all three points,” he told a Press conference.

“We knew that it would be a very difficult game, Málaga were superb in defence and in the end, it was my goal that settled it but the only thing that mattered was taking maximum points back home to Madrid.

“The team has faith in its abilities, we just tried to impose our style on the game and take it to them.

“Before the Barça game, we have to think about the Copa del Rey. We’re up against a very difficult opponent [Valencia] and the first leg is over there at Mestalla.

“That is going to be a very tough game and we’ll be giving it everything we’ve got to gain a good result for the return”.

I’m delighted because now I will be able to play against Barcelona which is great, but the best part of today was taking all three points”.
