Italy to call off Spain friendly?

Italy have reportedly requested to Spain that they cancel March’s international friendly.

The two nations, who have met four times since 2011, are currently down to play each other on March 5 at the Vicente Calderon.

However, Marca report that the Italian Football Federation have put in a request to their Spanish counterparts to cancel the arrangement.

It is believed that Italy Coach Cesare Prandelli does not see it as convenient to face La Roja just three months before the World Cup in Brazil.

The Spanish Football Federation are understood to have received the Azzurri’s request but are yet to take a decision.

It is reported that should Spain agree to pull out of the fixture, it may see the location for the March friendly changed, if replacement opponents are not at the same standing as Italy.
