Castro: Survival over goals

Ruben Castro says that he is not setting a personal target for goals this season, with his only objective to help Real Betis avoid relegation.

Injury has restricted Los Beticos’ leading forward to just five appearances so far this term in La Liga and subsequently to just the one goal.

With his League tally 17 shy of last season, the 32-year-old admits that personal targets are out of the window, with Betis languishing 20th in the table.

“With what remains of the season, it is almost impossible to surpass the 18 goals from last year,” Castro has told AS this week.

“So I do not put a target in mind.

“I just want to score enough so that Betis achieve their goal, which clearly now is survival.”
