Diego Simeone praised Atletico Madrid’s ‘effort and heart’ after they beat Levante 3-2 on Saturday evening.
Two second half Diego Costa goals were enough to take the capital club top of the League, but the Coach admitted it was a hard-fought encounter.
“What I liked most was the end, I am convinced and I share the different ways of playing the game that when you have the crunch match and when it appears different to what you expected, we showed great tenacity, patience and a lot of intensity from the second minutes until the 93rd,” he told a Press conference.
“Football is about mistakes. We are not exempt from committing them, it is normal that we make mistakes.
“Today we made some but in the four-day rotation with a different group, we were losing 1-0 and came back to win in both games because the team never gives up.
“We put in a lot of effort and played with a lot of heart. With the support of the people we had a magical day in the Calderón. Today has been a real feast of football on the field
“In the difficulties we must find solutions. We got in to the lead then they hit us on the counter attack .
“The team did not give in and the supporters needs to be close to the players because they are doing amazing things," he said.
“I will never tire of saying it. We know our limitations and difficulties. When I talk about going game by game, a doctor an architect , we felt very identified with people working every day to get by.
“We have a lot of heart and hard work. If we go day by day we will be able to fight.”
