Varane ‘won’t lose faith’

Raphael Varane insists he will ‘keep the faith’ despite missing the majority of this season through injury.

The French defender had surgery over the summer, and has only managed to play four League games all term.

“Injuries are very common in the careers of players but you must keep faith and have confidence,” he told AS. “You must not lose hope.

“I was ready to play for Madrid at 18, it took me a year to adjust to the club in general. Last season everything was fine.

“I try to give my best on the pitch, have confidence and not cause troubles, I think I have to be true to those qualities.

“I'm not intimidated to be called the future of France and Madrid, I think it's great. I hope I can live up to it.

“I want to keep on working to improve, I have a great room for improvement. I'll give my best.”
